Re: Anyone Up For A Project?
Fri, May 19, 2006 - 10:07 AMWelcome, Gina!
Make a postcard, or an ACEO card, and when you're ready to send something out, see who's up and available.
Leave a portion of whatever you make unfinished, so the recipient can add onto it and send it back.
I'm in the middle of 3 projects right now, so I can't this month, but I know there are people around here who will jump in.

Re: Anyone Up For A Project?
Fri, May 19, 2006 - 12:55 PMHiya, Gina!
I don't mind you asking anything at all.
ACEO stands for "Art Cards, Editions, and Originals."
They started as an artistic alternative to Trading Cards, like the old Baseball Cards, and the like.
The standard size for them is 2.5" x 3.5". I buy playing cards at Michael's Crafts that look like $100 bills on the back, and use those.
The card is decorated/altered using various mediums, like collage, paint, pastels, photography, ink, you name it.
Originally, they were just traded between people, but now they are also reproduced and sold, and auctioned on e-bay, etc... There are a few websites out there about them, like:
www.art-cards.org/
www.villageartclub.org/artcards.htm
www.artwanted.com/mb/topic.cfm
They're fun, they don't take terribly long to make, and they're wonderful to trade and exchange!

I'm not sure if the mail art trades are usually 2D but I was thinking about maybe doing an earring trade?
Any thoughts?
